New DAP member

FMT - Ex-envoy joins DAP, praises Penang governance (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR: Former ambassador to Mexico Yeop Adlan Che Rose has joined DAP, according to the party’s Malay-language news portal Rocketkini.com.

According to the portal, Yeop Adlan, 74, said DAP’s governance of Penang was the main reason he had joined the party.

“The party isn’t anti-Islam, as claimed by some. The Penang Islamic Department is given an allocation of RM14 million a year by the state government,” he was quoted as saying.

Yeop Adlan said the Penang government, led by DAP and other Pakatan Harapan parties, was the only state government that was clean, efficient and trustworthy.

He said this was the main reason that drew him to the party, which he decided to join after having previously joined PAS and PKR.

“For 50 years, Penang was held by Barisan Nasional and what have they done? There was no planning, everything was disorganised, eateries were filthy.

“DAP, in just two terms, has turned the state into a clean one. The state is prudent with its budget and there is no more abuse of funds. They also practise an open tender system.

“The debts have been reduced from RM680 million to just RM66 million while Pahang’s debts are at RM2.3 billion,” he was quoted as saying.

Yeop Adlan said the economic development of Malays would only be achieved in a country that was administered in the same manner as Penang.

He said Malays should not be afraid of DAP’s involvement in PH.

“DAP is under the Chinese, but if the party is successful and shows its prowess, then what is wrong with that?

Just one comment on Yeop Adlan Che Rose's spill, namely, “For 50 years, Penang was held by Barisan Nasional and what have they done? There was no planning, everything was disorganised, eateries were filthy."

I have to agree with him on above especially during Gerakan's reign, when during its latter part, the Island turned from its 'Pearl of the Orient' reputation to being rather filthy.

I was especially disappointed with Koh Tsu Koon's government in that it allowed rampant unfettered development of everything and anything.

For example, townships and especially restaurants were developed helter-skelter. The worst were in the south of the Island.

Then environmentally, the brooks, streams and rivers were mercilessly ignored as its waters 'disappeared somewhere' and riverbeds showed small pools of stagnant brackish filth. See my KTemoc Kongsamkok post The secret brook.

And as a sign of its environmental deterioration, my Penang lang, well-known author-scholar Neil Khor lamented in Malaysiakini the disappearance of the 'peacock-hu' (guppies) from its waterways and even drains. The guppies were indispensable non-chemical means of keeping check on mosquito larvae.

  1. Yes, Gerakan's blind spot in Penang was in not paying attention to cleanlines, damn the environment.
But Let's not be so partisan in only seeing flaws on one side.
DAP's blind spot is letting Developers and their contractors with getting away with almost anything, damn the environment.
The chickens are coming home to roost.

  2. Penang sangat membangun. Tanah rata dibangunkan untuk rakyat. Rumah-rumah mewah didurikan untuk rakyat. Perancangannya begitu teliti dan cekap hingga ia tidak memerlukan bantuan dari mana-mana pihak. Kejayaan DAP amat ketara sekali hingga rakyat merasa bahagia. Banjir besar yg melanda negeri lain tidak terurus, tetapi di Penang kecekapan YB yg bersahaja menakai baju kerja sambil mencekak pinggang dilihat begitu prihatin sekali.

  3. Economist Jomo said he's worried not only BN will prevail in GE14, but that BN might get two thirds majority and we all know that if this happen, this is the end.....new laws, new restrictions, new legal arm-twisting will be in place once BN gained two thirds.

According to Jomo, all this is because there's no unity in Oppos. Each one with their own agendas and sangat dengki with the other party/ies within the Harapan. Ironical...harapan means hope but mana itu harapan ? Even here, in comment section, we are all hoping to see the end of BN with the next coming GE, but what do we see ? The supporters are all taking a leaf out of their own respective leaders...pkr supporters truly detested dap, losing no opportunity to blacken dap....dap supporters making snide remarks ( although some of it could be bullseye accurate ) at pkr, amanah getting the thumbs down somewhat but mostly left alone since it has no clout, and of course with pribumi joining in at this late stage...more acrimony ! Anyone one seriously think kita ada harapan ke untuk Harapan in GE 14 ?

  4. Oh mine, this blogger has now described me as 'anti-kt disturbed person", wakakaka. I guess to ktemoc, sane, totally balanced ( as opposed to "disturbed" ) would be those who love MO1 and his sifu the MOM as much as ktemoc, who strangely now couldn't or wouldn't or dare not give out even a single negative word as far as this UMNO/Malaysian first officer is concerned. I also guess to ktemoc, I was perfectly balanced ( read NOT disturbed ) during those times when I was applauding him during those times when he was independent, giving it straight, without fear or favor no matter which side of the aisle. Alas, now I am being regarded as disturbed, wakakaka, just because ktemoc himself has changed, although humble me has not changed one bit...see how servile he is to that fugitive monster who now got himself into hot soup fingering the AG and his misogynistic racialist running down of "greedy or looking-for-orgasm prostitutes" like Ambiga and Clare RB....."hidden black hands" and " white woman" indeed ! Btw, very prudent of that monster to now hide this very article on the non Muslim women deep into other pages although his new articles are normally in the front pages. Mana ada balls this no-balls who always harp about his prowess in taking on men decades younger than himself ! When it comes to the crunch, this MOM is a coward and is only good with slanderous words and outright lies.

My reference to disunity is about the mood of a lot of the average Joe ( and Jane too ) on the ground having no harapan in Harapan, seeing how the leaders and supporters of the various parties within this Harapan always backstabbing, backbiting and poisonous to each other at the drop of a hat. But we all fear the prevalence of dUmno and if this evil party ever gain two thirds, we might as well fold up for good. So all this bickering, backbiting, jealousy, angst, ketuanan, religious superiority, whatever against each other is only helping the other side. God help us should dUmno prevails overwhelmingly in the next GE as we know full well PAS will be waiting patiently for their 'just rewards' for supporting the Great Thievery. All those extremists and fanatics embedded in the all government bureaucracy, army and judiciary can then shed their sheep clothing and come out safely from the Taliban closets, and minority communities have to really scatter further a field to avoid being crushed completely.
